GENERAL

• I graduated from UC Santa Barbara with a master's degree in MCDB (molecular, cellular & developmental biology).

• I did my undergrad work at UC Davis, with a degree in Genetics. I also minored in Music and in Human Development (took me five years to finish my undergrad). I sang in the University Chorus as an alto, and whatever time I had leftover from studying was devoted to the UCD Gymnastics Club (3 years and I was the Secretary during my last year).

• I like biology, but I don't want to be a doctor.

• I FINALLY figured out what I'm doing with my life! Huzzah!

  I am now a qualified -- and working -- group fitness instructor (teaching cardio kickboxing and step aerobics). And I just got hired to be a personal trainer, too!

• I'm an atheist, but I respect those with religious faiths. But it does annoy me when people tell me I am inferior/doomed/stupid for not believing in God, and when people try to preach at me.

• I care about politics, and I tend to have libertarian views. I am very ANTI-BUSH and strongly against the Iraq war. I'm also pro-choice, pro-stem cell research, anti-capitalism, pro-environmentalism, pro-gun control (screw the Second Amendment -- we don't live in the 18th century and there is no F***ING reason for civilians to carry guns!).

• I am a vegetarian, but not vegan (I can't give up cheese!). I've been meatless for almost 8 years.

• I am very much a cat person. Bibi is the name of my calico tabby. She's eight years old now and is the cutest thing ever.

• I have a younger sister and a younger brother.

• I don't drink much alcohol. (Most of it tastes disgusting and I don't think I even get "happy" drunk -- I go straight to getting sick.)

• I don't smoke. (It stinks like hell, and I'd like to keep my lungs, thank you. If I had the power, I would ban smoking in all public places.)

• I don't do any drugs. (I'm not stupid)

• But I am addicted to caffeine -- I love my "Grande Iced Americano with a Splash of Soy Milk", courtesy of Starbucks (yeah, I know they're everywhere and are an evil chain, but I love their coffee).

• I was born premature -- a month and a half early, I believe. I guess I wanted out.

SPORTS

• Gymnastics has been the only sport for me that I've been good at. I started classes when I was 9, but didn't decide I wanted to compete until I was 15. If it weren't for being 18 and graduating high school, I would have wanted to continue competing. As it was, I quit competing for Windmill Gymnastics as a Level 7. But I competed in a few master's meets during college.

• I was a gymnastics coach for 3 years and really enjoy working with kids.

• I held my middle school's sit-ups record for two years.

• I've been timed in doing a handstand for at least a minute and a half.

• I can do all three splits.

• I love baseball, specifically the OAKLAND ATHLETICS! "Got green?" I watch as many games as I can, otherwise I will be glued to my radio, making sure I get every play-by-play detail.

• I'm a hopeless romantic:

  • I love romantic comedies (but not too heavy on the comedy part)

  • On ST: Voyager, I was (and still am!) a fan of the Paris/Torres pairing and really, really liked the Janeway/Chakotay thing to happen even though I know it really couldn't.

  • On ST: Deep Space Nine, Odo/Kira and Worf/Dax.

  • On ST: The Next Generation, Picard/Crusher and Riker/Troi.

  • On The X-Files, Mulder/Scully.

  • On Lois & Clark ... um, duh ...

• I identify most with the character of B'Elanna Torres on Star Trek: Voyager.

MOVIES/MUSICAL THEATRE

• Favorite musical theatre production:

  • Les Miserables, hands down! (seen six thirteen sixteen twenty-one times -- as of June 18, 2006)

• I still have the entire movie of Aladdin memorized! (since 1992)

• My favorite band is Savage Garden (to me, they still exist!).

• I've played the violin since I was 9. I am now trying to teach myself to play the piano.

• My favorite classical music composer: Mozart (Beethoven and Bach are good, too)

• As mentioned above, I sang in the UCD Chorus, but only in my last year there. I loved it so much, it's something I definitely wish I'd done from the beginning.
